Davis County Middle School Students will be taking the standardized state tests (ISASP) Tuesday, March 28th through Thursday, March 30th. Fifth and Eighth graders will take a Science test on Friday, March 31st. Students must arrive before 8:15AM to begin the assessment. Testing will end at 10AM each day. Please feel free to contact the MS office at 641-664-2200 ext. 1147 with any questions or concerns.
Tips for Testing:
Encouragement - Help your child start the day with words of encouragement & positivity. This could be a 2-minute conversation in the morning encouraging them to do their best and recalling/sharing a happy time or memory.
Sleep - Get a good night’s rest! Children between the ages 7 - 12 years old need 10 to 11 hours of sleep per night and children 12 - 18 years old need 8 to 9 hours of sleep per night.
Breakfast - Don’t skip breakfast! Eating a healthy breakfast and filling breakfast can make you much more aware and boost your cognitive skills! Two factors that can directly impact your test performance. Students may eat breakfast at school beginning at 7:50AM.

Davis County Middle School would like to encourage all caregivers to engage with their students on #SELDay! Caregivers can do this in a variety of ways, here are a few examples:
1.Establish routines and intentionality.
2. Commit acts of services or kindness for others with your children.
3. Engage in creativity together.
4. Practice active listening.
5. Help your child express and name their emotions.
Thank you for everything you do as caregivers to help children develop foundational social-emotional life skills that are fundamental to their success in the classroom and beyond! It takes all of us—educators, families, and our greater Davis County community—to ensure children have access to SEL so they can gain confidence, stay focused and productive, and build relationships that will allow them to thrive.
