Students had a great time this week spreading kindness throughout the community. They made place mats for the Davis and Care Center. They hide rocks around town with positive messages. Some decorated pumpkins with kind words to help decorate the hospital, Care Center and Davis Center. Finally, we created posters to hang in our building and songs to play on our school news.
The Middle School has accumulated quite an assortment of clothing, shoes, hats and other items in our Lost and Found area. Please make sure you check out the items if you are missing any at home. All items will be removed from the building on Friday the 25th.

We will be taking our eighth graders to the IHCC 8th Grade Career Day on Friday, October 25 at
Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. This day is designed to assist in career
pathway exploration and 4-year planning for our students. Students will have the
opportunity to explore various career options; learn what the job entails, opportunities in
the area of interest, and the education/certification requirements.
This is an important day for students to continue high school and post-high school
planning. We encourage you to discuss different career options and work roles with your
8th grader. Tell him/her what you do and why it is important. Your conversations and
interactions regarding career education and decision-making is a powerful influence.
We, at Davis County Middle School are excited to share that our school will be celebrating Unity Day on Wednesday, October 23 this year. We would like everyone to wear and share ORANGE to show that we stand united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion! Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance of difference, and inclusion. We will have a tremendous impact on young lives when we demonstrate our unity on this important topic. Let’s all unite and talk about the positive things we can do to make healthier communities. Don’t forget to wear Orange next Wednesday and send a big message of support, hope, and unity.
Middle School Cross Country Meet that was to be at Chariton today has been cancelled, there will be practice after school. Also, 7th & 8th grade Football practice has been cancelled for this evening.
