The meal is the first of what will become a monthly venture. The history club, along with the foods class and the advanced foods class have worked in preparing a meal consisting of chili or chicken noodle soup, a roll, crackers and a dessert. Cost of the meal will be $8. The purpose of these meals is to foster a partnership between the American Legion and the Davis County High School as well as to encourage student participation in their community. The proceeds will go to the American Legion as well as the clubs/organizations that have helped in the planning, preparation and serving of the meal.

"We are the first generation to raise digital natives — kids who’d rather text than talk. And, let’s be honest, it’s hard. In fact, surveys reveal that technology is the number one battleground in homes today. Screens have seeped into every corner of our kids’ lives, and many of us are trying to navigate this unpaved parenthood road alone.
That’s where we come in. Screen Sanity is an international nonprofit that equips parents to be mentors and guides so kids grow up happy and healthy in an increasingly digital world. We offer a variety of tips, tools and trainings, all designed to help families maximize the benefits of technology while minimizing the harmful side effects. Join us in creating a world where kids are captivated by life, not screens." - ScreenSanity.org

We spotlight Jeremy White this week! He is now a professor at Iowa State University.
We just wanted to remind you about sharing your input about desired skills and characteristics for our next Davis County / Moulton-Udell CSDs Shared Superintendent. We have contracted with Grundmeyer Leader Services to assist us with the search; step one of the process is to elicit input from district patrons via a Stakeholder Survey. If you have not yet done so, please complete the survey as soon as possible. If you already have completed the survey, thank you (complete it only once per person). Enclosed is a flyer about the Stakeholder Survey, as well as the link to the actual survey. If you prefer, the direct link to the survey is below; the survey closes December 20. Thank you for providing input to the Boards of Education in moving forward with this most important hire.

School Districts across Iowa are in need of coaches.. If you have ever thought of coaching now is your chance to get certified.
The next Coaching Authorization class offered by Indian Hills Community College is scheduled Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm each day.
This course is approved by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. It is a 55-hour comprehensive coaching education course that, upon successful completion, will provide participants with the essential knowledge and credentials to earn their coaching authorization license. This is a hybrid class, 12 hours of face-to-face classroom and the additional online course work completed at the participant’s own pace. At the completion of the course work, participants will take two tests and need an 80% or better pass rate to receive the Coaching Authorization Certificate from IHCC.
Once participants pass and receive our certificate, they can complete their application for coaching authorization with the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, completing all background check forms and submitting all the required fees at www.boee.iowa.gov/licauthorization/coaching-authorization.
To register online for the Coaching Authorization Class, go to www.indianhills.edu/cews. Scroll down to the button that says, “Register for a Continuing Education Class.” From here, you will be able to search and pay for the class. Use “Coaching” for the search word.
The cost of the class is $390 per participant. Credit card payment is required in order to complete the registration

Membership is welcome to juniors and seniors who exhibit strength in the four areas of scholarship, service, character, and leadership. These 14 students representing the classes of 2025 and 2026 will join our current membership of 13 seniors. This is one of the country's oldest honor societies and our chapter has been in existence for decades. Congratulations, students!
