Representatives from Davis County Community Schools

attend School Nutrition Conference.

Stephanie Hawkins, Connie White and Dan Roberts representing the Davis County Community School nutrition department attended the School Nutrition Association Iowa Annual Conference in Ames, Iowa, held June 14 & 15, 2010.

While attending the conference, Stephanie, Connie and Dan had an opportunity to attend educational sessions on current management techniques, commodity processing, marketing, dairy industry updates, wellness issues, technology, meeting customer needs and wants, legislative issues, childhood obesity, and HACCP updates.

General session speakers included Chef Cyndie, PhD. RD with over 20 years experience as a school food service director, coordinator, consultant and trainer. Chef Cyndie is the author of “Producing Produce”, a fresh fruit and vegetable fabrication training manual for school food service managers.

Industry representatives exhibited the newest food and equipment ideas at the Scheman Building on the Iowa State University campus.

The annual conference gives school nutrition staff members an opportunity for professional development and networking.
