 You've
been chopped!
On Monday May 24th
the foods club members took part in their first annual cooking
competition. The competition was modeled after the Food Network
series “Chopped.” Each group of students received a bag of seven
ingredients that they had to incorporate into a main dish and a
dessert that they prepared for three judges. They were able to use
other ingredients from the pantry to complete their dishes. They
had one hour to decide what they would make and prepare it for
judging. The three teacher judges had the tough job of choosing a
winner. The winning team consisted of Jessica Cowles, Andrew
Cowles, Steve Nash, and Kalleigh Tharp. The newly formed group has
had a lot of fun this year and is looking forward to the county fair
where they will be entering exhibits in the 4-H building and
participating in the pie contest.
