ACTIVITY BUS ROUTES The Davis County School district has changed the current bussing for activity routes. Instead of delivering you child directly to your home after their participation in practices, we will be running our routes to designated stops in outlying towns. These stops will be in Drakesville, Dutchman General Store, Floris Water Tower, Floris, Steuben Corner, Troy, Pulaski, Savannah, White's Corner, and Mark Baptist Church. ESTIMATED ACTIVITY BUS DROP OFF TIMES
Our goal is for these busses to be at the above stops at the designated time using Atomic Time available on your cell phone for your convenience and planning. Time may vary due to inclement weather. The School District would like to thank you for your efforts in making this a smooth transition. Morning Stops If the bus is on time, the buses will stop, wait 15 seconds, and continue on the route. Student(s) should: Stay at the designated pick-up location until Bus has stopped and stop arm is extended. If student has to cross the road, wait until driver gives the student a signal to cross the road and the student has personally checked for traffic from both directions.Afternoon Stops Student(s) should: Stay in seat till bus is stopped and door is opened, If crossing the road, wait for driver’s signal before crossing and personally check for traffic from both directions before stepping into the other lane of traffic and students should walk ten feet in front of the bus. Please talk to your student(s) and plan for one of the following:
TRANSPORTATION BUS RULES
On the student side of bus driving, our biggest problem is the student discipline problems. Bus drivers have a lot of responsibility of driving an 8 ton school bus with 30 to 50 students sitting behind them. Behavioral problems distract the drivers from the road and could jeopardize the safety of all the students riding. If a bus driver calls you with a student problem, please take the time to listen to the driver and help. If you have suggestions that will help your child improve in behavior, please tell the bus driver or call me at the school (664) 2200 ext. 1133. "One Way Traffic" at Elementary School North Street on the south side of the Elementary School is one-way traffic during the unloading and loading of bus students for the morning and afternoon routes. Parents are requested to use the parking lot south of the Middle School for picking up or dropping off their students while buses are in position. Parents should drive into and out of the parking lot from the WEST side of the parking lot. There are school employees watching the Elementary crosswalk to assist students crossing the street. "One Way Traffic" at Middle School in the Mornings Parents can use the West Middle School driveway in the "mornings" to unload students in the mornings. The traffic will be one-way from the North driving south past the Middle School and exiting on North Street. In the afternoon, the Middle School driveway will be only for loading buses. State Law on passingSchool BusesDriver meeting a School Bus The driver of any vehicle when meeting a school bus with the yellow/amber lights flashing shall reduce the speed of said vehicle to not more than twenty miles per hour, and bring vehicle to a complete stop when "RED" flashing lights come on. Driver overtaking a School Bus The driver overtaking a school bus shall not pass a school bus when the yellow/amber or red flashing lights are flashing. Thanks for your help Last Year ! I would like to thank parents, students, bus drivers, mechanics, administrators and each school secretary for your help last year for keeping our school buses on schedule. |

Substitute School Bus Drivers NeededWe need part-time substitute bus drivers. This is a fun, four-hour job. Applicants will be paid for training for the state CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) tests, learning to drive the school bus, and learning the bus driver’s duties. This is a great job for parents who have their students in school. Applicants will need to complete an application at the Transportation Office (641-664-2200 Extension 1133). |
