Student Organizations

 

504.1   Prohibition on Secret Societies.  No student shall join, become a member of, or solicit any other student to join, or become a member of any fraternity or society wholly or partially formed from students and no student shall take part in organizing or forming any such fraternity or society, except those approved by the board of directors.

504.2   Prior Approval.  Any student, district employee or other person wishing to form a student organization shall obtain approval from the board of directors before any actions are taken to form the organization.

504.3   Disbanding.  The board shall have the right to disband any student organization for failure to comply with rules and regulations governing such organizations, as established by the building principal, the superintendent and/or the board of directors.

504.4   Sanctions.  The board may suspend or dismiss any student and/or prevent any student from graduating or participating in school honors who violates Section 504.1 or 504.2. 

504.5   Funds.  Collection of any funds for school activities must have the approval of the building principal.  All monies earned or accumulated by student organizations shall be the property of the district.  Administration of student organization funds shall be the responsibility of the building principal.  Determination of expenditures of student organizations shall occur by a majority vote of the students involved in the organization, when possible, or if not possible, by a majority vote of the officers of the student organization.  Final approval of the building principal is required prior to the expenditure of any monies from student organization accounts.  An audit of activity accounts shall be made at the same time as the annual audit of school funds.
