Code No. 216 Board of Directors
Public Participation in School Board Meetings
Citizens, who have a place on the agenda, may address the board on the issue of their concern prior to or during the discussion of that issue. The presiding officer will recognize these individuals to make their comments at the appropriate time. Speakers are asked to keep their remarks as brief as possible, and no longer than three minutes in length. The board in its discretion may allow citizens who do not have a place on the agenda to address the board.
The orderly process of the board meeting shall not be interfered with or disrupted.
A board member may ask questions of the speakers after receiving permission from the chair. Only those speakers recognized by the chair shall be allowed to speak. Comments by others are out of order, and the individual making the comments may be asked to leave the board meeting.
Individuals who have a complaint about school district personnel will not be allowed to bring their complaint to the school board until they have followed the procedure outlined in board policy “Citizens’ Complaints”.
